SINGAPORE PRESCHOOL ACCREDITATION FRAMEWORK (SPARK 2.0)
Core Values
The 5 core values of SPARK continue to underpin SPARK 2.0. They are represented by 4 petals with a spark at the centre to signify that the development of every child is central to preschool quality.
Child our Focus: Children are joyful, curious, active and competent learners who develop best in a safe and nurturing environment. Their potential can be nurtured through experiential and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that cater to their abilities, needs and interests.
Leadership with Vision: Leaders set the direction and tone for their preschools, and lead staff to achieve a common vision. To steer their preschools to greater heights, leaders need to see beyond immediate concerns and issues, be cognizant of the changing landscape, and keep abreast of the latest trends and pedagogies in early childhood care and education.
Professionalism with impact: Teachers play a critical role in children’s development and learning. They are thoughtful planners and responsive facilitators who plan and facilitate meaningful, integrated learning experiences to promote children’s holistic development. They are also reflective practitioners, regularly reflecting on their pedagogical practices and developing professionally to facilitate the best learning experiences for children.
Innovation with Purpose: Preschool leaders and teachers embrace changes and are innovative in their teaching approaches to help children acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and dispositions needed for their future. They are responsive to changes in children’s profiles and developments when designing the preschools’ programmes and pedagogical approaches.
Partnership for Growth: Children’s learning and development are strongly influenced by their relationships with family members and the community. Preschool leaders and teachers establish partnerships with parents and the community to enhance children’s well-being and holistic development.
